Online Safety and User Content Policy
Version: 1.0
Effective date: 24 July 2026
Last updated: 24 July 2026
This policy applies to public or user-interactive features operated and controlled by hionet, including public game-server listings, customer profiles, reviews, comments, website messaging, hionet Discord communities and hionet-operated public game servers. It does not make hionet the operator of a customer's separately controlled game community or Discord bot merely because hionet supplies hosting infrastructure.
1. Who may use these features
A person must be at least 18 to create a hionet customer account or buy a Service. Public community features may be viewable by people who are not customers. Users must comply with this policy, the Acceptable Use Policy, applicable platform rules and law.
2. Prohibited content and conduct
Do not post, send, promote or facilitate content or conduct involving:
child sexual exploitation or abuse, grooming, or sexualisation of minors;
terrorism or unlawful support for terrorist organisations;
credible threats, incitement to violence, trafficking or exploitation;
non-consensual intimate images, sexual extortion or severe targeted harassment;
fraud, phishing, impersonation intended to deceive, scams or credential theft;
malware, denial-of-service attacks, unauthorised access or instructions primarily intended to cause material cyber harm;
unlawful hate, discrimination, stalking, doxxing or disclosure of private information;
unlawful drugs, weapons, stolen goods, gambling or regulated products;
copyright, trade mark, privacy, confidentiality or other rights infringement;
spam, artificial engagement, review manipulation, raids or abusive automation; or
evasion of a restriction or enforcement action.
Context matters. Lawful reporting, education, research, counterspeech and discussion are not prohibited merely because they refer to harmful subjects.
3. Reporting
Report illegal or policy-violating content to [email protected] with the subject “Abuse report”. Include the exact location, the reason for the report and supporting context. Do not send illegal imagery or credentials. Immediate danger should be reported to emergency services first. Full instructions are in the Abuse and Illegal Content Policy.
4. Moderation and enforcement
We consider severity, likelihood of harm, evidence, context, recurrence and the user's history. Measures may include reducing visibility, removing content, disabling messaging or posting functions, warning a user, restricting an account, preserving evidence, suspending or terminating access, or referring a matter to a platform, specialist body or competent authority.
Where reasonably possible, we use the least intrusive effective measure and target the affected content or function. We may act immediately without prior notice where necessary to prevent harm, secure systems, preserve evidence or comply with law.
5. Reasons and complaints
Where permitted and reasonably practicable, we tell the affected user the general reason for a material moderation decision, the content or feature affected, the action taken and how to complain. A person who submitted a report may ask us to reconsider a closure by providing new evidence.
Submit a complaint under the Complaints Policy, including the report or ticket reference. A different reviewer will be used where reasonably practicable. We may not disclose another person's identity, private data, security information or investigation details.
6. Customer-hosted services
Customers remain responsible for moderation and legal compliance in their own game servers, Discord bots and communities. They must provide appropriate rules, reporting routes and privacy information for their users. hionet may take infrastructure-level action if customer-hosted activity is illegal, violates the AUP, threatens systems or creates material risk.
7. Records, privacy and safety processes
We retain material reports, decisions and complaint records for the periods in the Privacy Notice. Information is used and shared only as reasonably necessary for moderation, safety, security, legal compliance and claims.
This policy is one part of hionet's online-safety arrangements. Risk assessments, technical measures, staff procedures and legally required reporting are maintained separately and reviewed when features or risks change.
